Delta Upsilon, Phi Kappa Theta, and Sigma Kappa take 1st in Greek-Week!
By Chris Grimaldi
The Ohio Chapter of Delta Upsilon just finished a very successful Greek Week. With the
combined efforts of Phi Kappa Theta, Delta Upsilon, and the sorority of Sigma Kappa we
finished 1st place in the 2006 Greek Week. Sunday afternoon was the start of Greek
Week with the opening games. In these events we placed 1st in tug of war, 1st place in
the banner competition, 2nd in the two legged race, and 2nd in the chalk drawing
competition. Out of the 14 male participants that day, 9 of them were members of Delta
Upsilon. One of Tuesdays night's events was kickball. Unfortunately the effort that was
put forth was not enough for us to pull out a victory. Later Tuesday night the brothers
attended a speaker who was diagnosed with AIDS. The speaker talked about the troubles
he had overcome and some of the challenges he must face everyday. Wednesday event
was one of the most traditional events of Greek-Week, the Greek God and Goddesses.
We selected one of our most talented brothers, Tony Irwin, to participate in this event.
After performing in a dress and singing a Jennifer Lopez single, we finished in 2nd place
for this competition. The final event was the Air-Bands competition. The team of Phi
Kappa Theta, Delta Upsilon, and Sigma Kappa's dance skills appeared to be better than
the rest, but the judges did not agree. We placed 4th in this competition. This was a
successful Greek Week and Delta Upsilon is looking forward to Homecoming in the fall!

DU, SAE, and ADPi Take 2nd At Homecoming!
By: Tony Irwin
We, the Ohio University chapter of Delta Upsilon, just finished up a very successful
homecoming week in which we saw our homecoming team take second place in the
overall category for the week. We were active in every event and we worked well
with our paired sorority of Alpha Delta Pi and fraternity of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Monday night of homecoming was a philanthropic night where 24 volunteers from
each of the 9 paired teams, wrote 30 letters a piece to family and friends to raise
money for St. Jude's hospital. Six of those 24 volunteers were members of Delta
Upsilon. Tuesday night's event was kickball and our team played a close game and
won at the end to advance to the next round. Unfortunately due to inclement
weather the remaining of the games were cancelled and every winning team was
rewarded the same amount of points. Wednesday and Thursday night's events were
attendance events. Wednesday was a very entertaining comedian by the name of
Bernie McGrenahan, and Thursday was a pep rally for Saturday's homecoming game
versus the Ball State Cardinals. The next event was the parade Saturday morning
at 10 am. The float that we built for the parade was unfortunately destroyed by
the weather that morning. The final event was a lip-syncing contest on the
following Monday in which the team of ADPi, DU, and SAE captured first place,
vaulting us to second overall for the week. This was a successful Homecoming
and DU is looking forward to Greekweek and Founder's Day!
